Basketball Game Preview: Orangewood Christian Rams vs. Lake Mary Prep Griffins

The Orangewood Christian Rams and the Lake Mary Prep Griffins will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Orangewood Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Lake Mary Prep likes a good challenge.

Last Tuesday, Orangewood Christian lost to Faith Christian on the road by a 74-56 margin. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (55), the Rams still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Orangewood Christian got top-tier performance from Noah Rigg, who went 8 of 14 on his way to 19 points. The dominant performance gave Rigg a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Powell, who posted nine points.

Meanwhile, Lake Mary Prep entered their tilt with Bridge to Independence on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They slipped by the Wildcats 60-59. The win almost wasn't to be: the Griffins were down 54-37 in the third quarter.

Lake Mary Prep's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.6 points per game. As for Orangewood Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.

Orangewood Christian might still be hurting after the 64-42 loss they got from Lake Mary Prep when the teams last played on December 3rd. Can Orangewood Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
