Volleyball Recap: Marathon Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Marathon, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Prentice Buccaneers on Thursday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Red Raiders also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2024.

Marathon never let Prentice on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-23.

Katelyn Love paced Marathon's offense, picking up 11 kills. Love got some help from Mayven Schneider and her 13 assists. Love was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Prentice's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Sophie Staroba, who had 17 assists and six digs, and Luca Blomberg, who had five digs.

With the win, Marathon broke their three-match losing streak and moved their record to 9-11. As for Prentice, their loss dropped their record down to 15-7.

Coming up, Marathon will square off against Assumption at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Red Raiders are facing the Royals at the right time seeing as the Royals are stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Prentice, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Bruce on the 27th.
