The Canyon del Oro Dorados's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their seventh straight loss. They took a 61-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pueblo. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Canyon del Oro in their matchups with Pueblo: they've now lost nine in a row.
Despite the loss, Canyon del Oro still got an impressive performance from Halie Fuller, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Fuller has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Madisen Fleury, who scored 13 points along with three steals and two blocks.
Pueblo found their leader in underclassman America Cazares, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Cazares has scored at least a third of Pueblo's points. Another player making a difference was Asia Clark, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Canyon del Oro has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season. As for Pueblo, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-10.
Canyon del Oro will face off against Salpointe Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pueblo, they will be playing at home against Cholla at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Cholla will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 272nd, while Pueblo is ranked 62nd).
