The Southern Boone Eagles lost to the Eldon Mustangs back in December of 2023, but the Southern Boone Eagles didn't allow the Eldon Mustangs the same satisfaction on Saturday. Southern Boone came out on top against Eldon by a score of 52-42. The win made it back-to-back wins for Southern Boone.
Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sydney Halderman, who scored 11 points along with seven assists and four steals. Halderman is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Zoe Martonfi was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 12 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Eldon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Southern Boone's win bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Eldon, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-7.
Southern Boone will be playing at home against Fatima on Monday. Fatima presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Southern Boone in Missouri (Fatima is ranked 28th, while Southern Boone is ranked 162nd). Eldon will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Lebanon at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th. Hopefully Lebanon focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Thursday.
