The Starkville Academy Volunteers lost against the Jackson Academy Raiders back in November of 2018, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Starkville Academy ended up on the wrong side of a rough 63-40 walloping at the hands of Jackson Academy. While losing is never fun, Starkville Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 157th, while Jackson Academy is ranked 11th).
Jackson Academy was led to victory by Mike Williams and Mason Williams. Williams scored 15 points along with five rebounds, while Williams scored 19 points along with six rebounds and four steals. The matchup was Williams' 20th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcus Goodloe, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Starkville Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Jackson Academy, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 19-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Starkville Academy is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Rossville Christian Academy at 7:45 p.m. on January 9th. As for Jackson Academy, they will face off against Hartfield Academy at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
