Basketball Recap: Saturday's Win Is Fountain-Fort Carson's Third in Last Four Outings

Fountain-Fort Carson's game on Saturday was all tied up 15-15 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 40-31 victory over the Castle View Sabercats. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Trojans.

Among those leading the charge was Sahriah Smith, who went 6 for 14 on her way to 19 points. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Darianna Rodriguez-Smith, who posted 11 points.

Castle View's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lizzy Mroz, who went 6 of 15 on her way to 13 points and seven rebounds. Mroz is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. Kenzie Tosch was another key player, going 5 of 8 on her way to 11 points and three steals.

Fountain-Fort Carson has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.8 points per game. As for Castle View, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

Fountain-Fort Carson will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Holy Family at 1:00 p.m. on January 18th. As for Castle View, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 42-33 win against Bear Creek on the 6th.
