Basketball Recap: Academy for Technology and the Classics Falls Despite Big Games from Cayleb Blea and Mikey Mora

Academy for Technology and The Classics was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 52-45 to the Santa Fe Prep Blue Griffins. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Academy for Technology and The Classics of the 72-60 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2021.

Academy for Technology and The Classics' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Mikey Mora, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 boards, and Cayleb Blea, who posted 13 points and four steals. The dominant performance gave Mora a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Devon Dinwiddie, who earned seven points.

Even though they lost, Academy for Technology and The Classics smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Academy for Technology and The Classics' defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Santa Fe Prep, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-7.

Academy for Technology and The Classics didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 97-61 loss against Robertson on the 28th. Santa Fe Prep has also already played their next game, a 49-35 win against Cottonwood Classical Prep on the 25th.
