The Dillon Wildcats will head out on the road to challenge the Red Springs Red Devils at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday. Dillon has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 199 points over their last three matchups.
Dillon was handed a three-point defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Aynor on Thursday. Dillon took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 64-30 win over Aynor. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Dillon has managed all season.
Dillon's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zamaurious Robertson, who scored 13 points along with six steals. Another player making a difference was Jamarion Fling, who scored eight points along with six steals.
Meanwhile, Red Springs' recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Friday after their third straight loss. They took a 60-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Dillon. While losing is never fun, Red Springs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 453rd in North Carolina, while Dillon is ranked 106th in South Carolina).
Red Springs' defeat came about despite a quality game from Kaedon Porter, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Porter has scored all season. Justice Mcmillan was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Dillon pushed their record up to 9-5 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.7 points per game. As for Red Springs, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Dillon and Red Springs are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Dillon hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 51.6 points per game. It's a different story for Red Springs, though, as they've been averaging only 53.6 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Dillon beat Red Springs 60-50 in their previous meeting last Friday. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Porter, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 12 rebounds. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Dillon still be able to contain him? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
