It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but North Stanly had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They blew past the Surry Central Golden Eagles 13-5. Considering the Comets have won 12 matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Sophia Crist tossed a big game, striking out 14 batters over six innings while giving up five earned runs off eight hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Sammie Lowder was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Leah Frick, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

Looking ahead, North Stanly will look to defend their home field on Friday against Forbush at 6:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Comets 2.5, the Falcons 3) so any runs scored will be well earned. Surry Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
