Central is 0-3 against Jonesboro since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Central Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Jonesboro Hurricane at 7:00 p.m. Central comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Central fell victim to Conway's stalwart defense two weeks ago and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a serious blow against the Wampus Cats, falling 55-0. While losing is never fun, Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas football rankings (they are ranked 90th, while Conway is ranked third).
Meanwhile, Jonesboro unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 49-6 loss at the hands of Conway.
Markevious Pickett put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 95 yards and a touchdown. Pickett was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 52 yards.
Central's loss was their eighth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 12-0 Bryant and 11-4 Cabot (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 60.4% over those games). As for Jonesboro, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Central took a serious blow against Jonesboro in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, falling 44-0. Can Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
