The Prosper Eagles will square off against the Plano East Panthers at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Prosper will be strutting in after a win while Plano East will be coming in after a loss.
Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Prosper turned things around against McKinney Boyd on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Broncos 9-8.
Prosper let Peyton Moya and Ava Van Volkenburgh run wild. Moya went 4-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Van Volkenburgh went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Van Volkenburgh a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bella Lopez, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Prosper kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, it was a classic East v. West duel when Plano East duked it out with Plano West on Tuesday. The Panthers fell 10-5 to the Wolves. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Wolves recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
La'Courtnia Butler was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Julia Wilson was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Prosper's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Plano East, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7-2.
Prosper was able to grind out a solid win over Plano East when the teams last played back in March of 2025, winning 5-1. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
