Southern Lab is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Ouachita Christian is on a seven-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Southern Lab Kittens will take on the Ouachita Christian Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Southern Lab had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed by the Eagles at home to the tune of 35-0. Southern Lab's win was all the more impressive since Central Catholic was averaging only 18 points allowed on the season.
Meanwhile, while Ouachita Christian put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for St. Mary. Ouachita Christian really took it to St. Mary for the full four quarters, racking up a 56-0 victory at home. 56 seems to be a good number for Ouachita Christian as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Zachary White was a one-man wrecking crew for Ouachita Christian as he rushed for 106 yards and four touchdowns on only 11 carries. Makin Lenard was another key contributor, rushing for 87 yards and a touchdown.
Their wins bumped Southern Lab to 10-1 and Central Catholic to 9-4.
Southern Lab took their win against Ouachita Christian when the teams last played back in December of 2021 by a conclusive 38-14. Does Southern Lab have another victory up their sleeve, or will Ouachita Christian turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
