The Christian School at Castle Hills Eagles had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34.4 points), and they went ahead and made it eight on Friday. They beat San Marcos Academy by the very same score they won with last week: 46-42. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
San Marcos Academy's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Cj Crauthers, who threw for 276 yards and five touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Crauthers is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last five games he's played. Aidan Nolen was in the mix too, providing San Marcos Academy with two touchdowns.
The Christian School at Castle Hills' win was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-8 St. Augustine and 2-8 Holy Trinity Catholic (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 34.7% over those games). As for San Marcos Academy, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. The Christian School at Castle Hills is on the road again on Friday and play against Westbury Christian at 7:30 p.m. on November 10th. Westbury Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully The Christian School at Castle Hills likes a good challenge. As for San Marcos Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Covenant Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
