Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up eight more assists than your opponent, a fact the Chester Yellowjackets proved on Thursday. They took down Steeleville 48-33. The win made it back-to-back wins for Chester.
Chester found their leader in underclassman Lexie Mott, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which Mott has scored at least a third of Chester's points. Another player making a difference was Lillian Diskey, who scored five points along with ten rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Steeleville saw an underclassman step up: Rylan Reiss dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Reiss has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilly Hepp, who scored no points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Chester's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-10. As for Steeleville, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season.
Chester will be playing in front of their home fans against Marissa/Coulterville at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Marissa/Coulterville will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. Steeleville on the road again on Monday and play against Wesclin at 6:00 p.m. on January 22nd.
