The biggest upset of the week belonged to Bowie, who took down 624th ranked Austin, 33-7. German Enriquez ran for 126 yards in the win.
Chapin extended the longest winning streak in 4A Region I District 1 this week by beating Jefferson, 40-7. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Huskies.
Irvin's dynamic duo of Jeremiah Gomez and Jordan Washington proved tough for El Paso to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Gomez threw for 131 yards and one touchdown and Washington had 48 yards receiving. Jonathan Cardenas helped Irvin's passing attack out by catching two balls for 48 yards.
Bryant Wolf was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 142 yards on eight carries as the Tigers fell to the Tigers. Teammate Andy Rivera added to the ground attack by rushing for 111 yards.
Chapin's Seth Gonzalez and Jaylen Addison have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Gonzalez has thrown for 799 yards this season, while Addison, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has 32 catches for 472 yards. Andy Banuelos from the Panthers leads the league in rushing with 470 yards.
The top two teams in 4A Region I District 1 will face off this week when first place Chapin takes on second place Bowie. Rene Hernandez's team defeated the Silver Foxes last week, while the Bears topped Austin.
El Paso was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to fourth in the league. Earlier in the week, Robert Morales's team defeated Irvin 51-28.
