North Buncombe is 10-0 against Erwin since December of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The North Buncombe Black Hawks will head out on the road to square off against the Erwin Warriors at 8:00 p.m. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for North Buncombe and five for Erwin.
North Buncombe pushed their score all the way to 88 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 89-88 to Enka. North Buncombe has not had much luck with Enka recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Despite the defeat, North Buncombe saw an underclassman step up: Trent Clark scored 26 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Clark is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Matthew Ledford was another key contributor, scoring 22 points along with two steals.
Erwin suffered their biggest defeat yet this season last Friday. They were outmatched by A.C. Reynolds on the road and fell 77-45. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Erwin has scored all season.
North Buncombe's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Erwin, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.
Everything went North Buncombe's way against Erwin when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as North Buncombe made off with a 70-50 win. Does North Buncombe have another victory up their sleeve, or will Erwin turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
