The Hoover Huskies are taking a road trip to challenge the Lincoln County Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hoover is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
Lincoln County will be up against a hot Hoover team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Huskies were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over Ripley on Monday. The Huskies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Jayley Carper and Emma Hanson did most of the damage at the plate: Carper went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Hanson went 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base. That's the most hits Carper has posted since April 1st. Another player making a difference was Eden Neiwierowski, who earned three runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Lincoln County, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They came out on top against Sissonville by a score of 9-5 on Thursday.
Arien Cooper spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up 11 Ks.
At the plate, Lincoln County got a massive performance out of Jillian Starcher, who went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases and five RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Lacy Harper, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Lincoln County hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Lincoln County's victory was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-8. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 7.3 runs this season. As for Hoover, their record is now 17-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Hoover hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Lincoln County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Hoover was able to grind out a solid victory over Lincoln County in their previous matchup on Wednesday, winning 6-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Huskies since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
