Basketball Recap: Ronald Stanley and Kayland Byirt Secure Win for KIPP Bold City

While KIPP Bold City didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They enjoyed a cozy 72-56 victory over the Global Outreach Charter Academy Kodiaks on Monday. This was payback for the Greyhounds, who suffered a 75-68 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Leading KIPP Bold City to victory were Kayland Byirt and Ronald Stanley. Byirt went 6 for 9 on his way to 12 points and seven rebounds, while Stanley posted 13 points. That's the most points Byirt has posted since back in January. Elijah Banks was another key player, putting up ten points.

KIPP Bold City was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Global Outreach Charter Academy only posted three assists.

Several Kodiaks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alex Dumesle, who put up 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jensie Lugo-Torres, who had 16 points.

KIPP Bold City's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Global Outreach Charter Academy, their loss was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-8.

KIPP Bold City wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 62-60 victory against Atlantic Coast on the 17th. As for Global Outreach Charter Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 64-33 defeat against Fletcher on the 19th.
