Baseball Recap: Muskogee's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Muskogee had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They put the hurt on the Putnam City North Panthers with a sharp 13-6 victory on Wednesday. Considering the Roughers have won three games by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Doc Estes made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, Kylin Blue was a standout: he scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Chris Daniels was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Muskogee kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The win got Muskogee back to even at 5-5. As for Putnam City North, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-7-1.

Muskogee and Putnam City North could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Oklahoma Rankings. Muskogee (ranked 153rd) will meet Broken Arrow (ranked 19th) at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Muskogee has given up an average of 7.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. Meanwhile, Putnam City North will face off against Edmond Memorial at 5:00 p.m. on Monday down 185 places (186 vs. 1).
