After flying high against the St. Peter's Spartans on Saturday, Genoa Christian Academy came back down to earth. Genoa Christian Academy fell to Granville Christian Academy 40-36. Genoa Christian Academy lost against Granville Christian Academy in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 49-34 score last time.
Despite the defeat, Genoa Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: Jackson Kirura scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Those 22 points set a new season-high mark for Kirura. Zane Groves was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Genoa Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Granville Christian Academy, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Genoa Christian Academy will be home for the holidays to greet Madison Christian at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
