Wellington will square off against Liberty Common at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Wellington is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Wellington took a loss when they played away from home last Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed last Monday. They had just enough and edged out Mountain View 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted since March 30th.
Carter Weedin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up eight Ks. Wellington is undefeated when Weedin allows two or fewer earned runs, but 6-7 otherwise.

At the plate, Cade Keller and Owen Gabbert did most of the damage at the plate: Keller went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double, while Gabbert went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. Those three RBI gave Keller a new career-high.
Liberty Common never got on the board in their matchup on Saturday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Jefferson Academy on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Jaguars. Considering the Eagles have won five matchups by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Liberty Common got a big performance out of Bowyn Caudill, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryson Weibler, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
Liberty Common always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Wellington has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Liberty Common, their victory bumped their record up to 9-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Wellington has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Liberty Common struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Wellington beat Liberty Common 12-8 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Will Wellington repeat their success, or does Liberty Common has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
