The Woodlan Warriors will challenge the Carroll Chargers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for Woodlan: they have been struggling with five straight losses at home dating back to last season, while Carroll has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.
On Wednesday, Woodlan came up short against Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran and fell 3-1. While the Warriors didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Cadets 25-20 in the first set.
Woodlan started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 20-25, 29-27, 25-21, 25-21.
Homestead came into Wednesday's match looking for another win against Carroll, but Dominic Bennett wouldn't allow it. The Chargers won by a set and slipped past the Spartans 3-2 with plenty of help from Bennett, who had seven digs and four aces. He is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as he's now posted 12 or more in each of the last six games he's played.
If you add up the scores from across all five sets (115-113) Carroll actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 19-25, 21-25, 29-27, 25-21, 19-17.
Woodlan's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Carroll, their win bumped their record up to 9-4.
