Softball Recap: Eunice Has No Trouble Against Zuni

There's no place like home for Eunice, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Zuni Thunderbirds with a sharp 23-2 win on Friday. That 21-run margin sets a new team best for the Cardinals this season.

Madison Martinez made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Martinez was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Isabella Pierce was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. She has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Hallie Jones, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Eunice kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in five consecutive contests.

The victory got Eunice back to even at 4-4. As for Zuni, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Coming up, Eunice will head out on the road to face off against Non Varsity Opponent at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Zuni, they will take on Newcomb in a tournament on Thursday.
