Softball Recap: Paul VI Wins Going Away Against Independence

Paul VI's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Independence Blue Devils with a sharp 11-1 victory. Considering the Panthers have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Anisa Noorani was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, Presley Gatlin and Ashley Robinson did most of the damage at the plate: Gatlin went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Robinson went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most runs Robinson has posted over her last 11 matchups. McKenna Drawbaugh was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Paul VI's win bumped their record up to 12-10. As for Independence, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Paul VI will venture away from home to square off against Bishop O'Connell at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Independence, they will head out to challenge New London at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
