Pinewood Prep extended their postseason success on Saturday against Wilson Hall. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Barons 55-13. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won ten matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.
Pinewood Prep got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Silas Brawner out in front who threw for 331 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 11.0 yards per attempt. Brawner has become a key player for the Panthers: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three passing touchdowns, but 1-3 otherwise. Another pass catcher making a difference was Lavoris Lucas, who gained 198 total yards and three touchdowns.
Pinewood Prep's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. Jacob Sweet was especially locked on to Wilson Hall's QB and sacked him 2.5 times. Mason Sumners was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making seven total tackles (3.5 for loss).
Wilson Hall's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ben McLaurin, who rushed for 62 yards and one score.
The victory was the fifth in a row for Pinewood Prep, bringing their record up to 10-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 13.2 points on average over those games. As for Wilson Hall, they moved to 11-2 with that defeat, which also ended their eight-game winning streak.
