Governor Livingston and Cranford are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2016, but not for long. The Governor Livingston Highlanders will head out on the road to face off against the Cranford Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
Last Saturday, Governor Livingston wound up with the same score they had in their last game (55-37), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 172nd, while Hillsborough is ranked 36th).
Meanwhile, Cranford had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They walked away with a 72-64 win over Millburn. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Governor Livingston's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Cranford, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
Governor Livingston came up short against Cranford in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, falling 56-46. Can Governor Livingston avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
