Desert Valley recap November 5, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in Desert Valley this week, Palm Desert beat Coachella Valley 48-14. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Aztecs.
Cathedral City moved up to 302 from 387 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Lions climbed the ranks as a result of beating La Quinta 35-14.
Thanks to the talents of Kyle Kabeary and Trae Riek, Palm Desert has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Kabeary is tops in the league in passing with 1,068 yards, while Riek has rushed for 1,413 yards this season. Tops in the league in receiving yards is the Blackhawks' Vincent Guzman, with 264 yards on 10 catches.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Cathedral City takes on second place Palm Springs. Cathedral City bested La Quinta last week, while Palm Springs beat Indio.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Richard Lee's team takes on the Indians. The Lions have allowed 134 points this season, while Palm Springs has given up 140. Cathedral City allowed 14 points last week as it defeated Danny Armstrong's team.
The league will see a high scoring game when the Blackhawks and Patrick Blackburn's team face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, La Quinta comes in having scored 255 this season, while the Aztecs have scored 289. The Blackhawks scored 14 points last week as they fell to the Lions.
Dan Murphy's team took down the Rajahs 63-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.
