After flying high against the Trinity Bulldogs last Wednesday, the Providence Grove Patriots came back down to earth. The match between Providence Grove and Randleman wasn't particularly close, with Providence Grove falling 58-39. Providence Grove found out winning isn't easy when your three-point shooting is a whole 25% worse than the opposition.
Despite the loss, Providence Grove still got an impressive performance from JADA NIXON, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of LAUREL BERNHARDT, who scored six points along with six rebounds.
Randleman's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Audra Petty led the charge by dropping a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Chenleigh Robinson, who scored 15 points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Providence Grove has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-7 record this season. As for Randleman, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-6.
Providence Grove will be playing in front of their home fans against Wheatmore at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Wheatmore is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. Randleman will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Trinity at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Trinity comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last 11 games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
