Two dominant guards in Kellen Layne and Ny'Zir Dix are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Middlesex Chargers will head out on the road to challenge the Nandua Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Middlesex knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 matchups -- so hopefully Nandua likes a good challenge.
In what's become a running theme this season, Middlesex gave their fans yet another huge win on Thursday. They breezed by Essex at home to the tune of 70-43. Middlesex pushed the score to 62-30 by the end of the third, a deficit Essex cut but never quite recovered from.
Middlesex's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Malik Dandy led the charge by dropping a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. Dandy has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times he's played. JaQuan Griffin was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten assists.
Meanwhile, Nandua entered their tilt with Arcadia with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Nandua slipped by Arcadia 63-62 on Thursday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Middlesex has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for Nandua, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-8.
Middlesex was able to grind out a solid win over Nandua in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, winning 66-58. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Nandua's Jeremiah Riley, who scored 21 points along with six assists and three steals. Now that he won't be playing on Monday, will it be that much easier for Middlesex to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
