Lisabella Dimitrijevic and Jalese Hays were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Dimitrijevic struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Hays tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Dimitrijevic has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in seven consecutive appearances. At bat, Dimitrijevic went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while Hays went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Those three RBI gave Hays a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kayla Doerre, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jaimee Bolduc, who went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Lincoln-Way Central hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Andrew came tearing into Saturday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Mustangs by a score of 4-0.
Lincoln-Way Central's win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Andrew, their record is now 17-8.
Lincoln-Way Central was able to grind out a solid win over Andrew when the teams last played back in April, winning 4-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
