The Union County Braves had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They claimed a resounding 71-35 win over Heritage Christian Academy on the road.
Heritage Christian Academy's lost on Thursday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jason Leek, who scored 14 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals. Leek scored a full 40% of Heritage Christian Academy's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Bradley Boyd, who scored 5 points.
Union County's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Heritage Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
Union County will be playing at home against Apollo at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Heritage Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Dawson Springs at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Dawson Springs focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Tuesday.
