Basketball Recap: Tre Jones' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Altamonte Christian over Oviedo

On Tuesday, the Altamonte Christian Eagles ended up a good deal behind the Oviedo Lions and lost 58-42. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 293rd, while the Lions are ranked 87th).

Altamonte Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Tre Jones, who went 5 of 9 en route to 10 points in addition to six boards and three steals. That's the most steals Jones has posted since back in November of 2024. Ryan Almeda was another key player, putting up 13 points.

It was another big night for Cameron Bryant, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds for Oviedo. Bryant's evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Oden, who went 6 for 10 on his way to 13 points.

Altamonte Christian dropped their record down to 6-12 with the loss, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.6 points per game. As for Oviedo, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-8.

Altamonte Christian will head out on the road to take on Ocoee at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Altamonte Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.6 points per game this season. As for Oviedo, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 75-17 win against Lyman on the 15th.
