III Section I recap October 1, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Greenway, who took down 46th ranked Cactus, 30-23. Kade Greenhalgh threw for 207 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 133 yards during the win.
Peoria extended the longest winning streak in III Section I this week by beating Independence, 42-0. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Corey Brown was a beast in the backfield as Sunrise Mountain defeated Dysart.
Nick Hultquist was a key player and the best on defense this week as the Mustangs topped the Demons. The 5-foot-10 defensive back.
Anthony Guevera threw for 202 yards and 2 touchdowns. He went 10-14 with 0 interception.
Greenhalgh was a passing and rushing force as the Demons bested the Cobras. Greenhalgh's favorite target this week was Zane Butts, who caught 8 passes for 106 yards.
Brown was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 13 carries, he ran for 212 yards as Sunrise Mountain beat the Patriots. Nick Haleman also contributed to the rushing game with 11 yards on the ground.
6-foot-1 quarterback Greenhalgh of Greenway is the league leader in passing yards this season with 932. He has also thrown 13 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Aguirre. The Peoria star has 29 catches for 578 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when KJ Anthony's team takes on James Carter's team. At the moment, the Demons are in second, while the Mustangs are in fourth.
The Panthers took down Independence 42-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Guevera in the win.
