Hiland is 0-4 against Tuscarawas Valley since April of 2019 but things could change on Monday. The Hawks will look to defend their home field against the Trojans at 5:00 p.m.
Hiland is headed into Monday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game on Friday. They took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mansfield Christian.
Makayla Beachy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits.
At the plate, Alissa Yoder made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jalyn Immel, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one run.
Meanwhile, Tuscarawas Valley put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They never let Ridgewood get on the board and left with a 5-0 win.
Not much got past Brennen Reichman, who gave up just a hit and racked up 17 Ks to keep Ridgewood off the board. Reichman has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 15 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Elliott Wallick was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024. Arieana Wade was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Tuscarawas Valley's victory was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-0. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Hiland, their loss dropped their record down to 1-13.
Hiland suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Tuscarawas Valley in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Hawks have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
