The Ramona Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rancho Bernardo Broncos at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Ramona and five for Rancho Bernardo.
Last Friday, Ramona came up short against Del Norte and fell 61-53. While losing is never fun, Ramona can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 688th, while Del Norte is ranked 281st).
Despite their defeat, Ramona saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Chase Newman, who scored 26 points, was perhaps the best of all. Colin Dillon was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Rancho Bernardo ended up a good deal behind Poway on Friday and lost 68-54.
Ramona has been struggling recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. As for Rancho Bernardo, their loss dropped their record down to 5-17.
Ramona strolled past Rancho Bernardo when the teams last played back in November of 2023 by a score of 61-43. Does Ramona have another victory up their sleeve, or will Rancho Bernardo turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
