Northern Nash is 0-8 against Bunn since April of 2022 but things could change on Tuesday. Northern Nash will head out to challenge Bunn at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Northern Nash's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Rocky Mount 15-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Knights.
Emily Clay was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Northern Nash let Kailey Burden and Ambriel Beale run wild. Burden scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances, while Beale scored three runs while going 2-for-3. Burden also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Hayley Moss, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Northern Nash was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .550. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.
Bunn never got on the board in their matchup on Wednesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Rocky Mount last Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 19-1 margin over the Gryphons. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Gryphons recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Peyton Alford was incredible, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2. Maycey Buchanan was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3.
Northern Nash pushed their record up to 8-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Bunn, their record is now 8-3.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Northern Nash has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .517. However, it's not like Bunn struggles in that department as they've averaged .489. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Northern Nash might still be hurting after the 21-1 defeat they got from Bunn in their previous matchup on March 6th. Can Northern Nash avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
