Latta is 8-2 against Marion since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Vikings will square off against the Swamp Foxes at 5:30 p.m. One thing working in Latta's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last five games.
Latta came out on top against Hemingway on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive 11-run first inning. The Vikings were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Tigers. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Brennon Miles made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Latta always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Marion's offense. They came up short against Atlantic Collegiate Academy last Tuesday, falling 9-0. The Swamp Foxes have struggled against the Armada recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Latta's record is now 10-3. As for Marion, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.
Wednesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Latta hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. However, it's not like Marion struggles in that department as they've averaged .333. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Latta got the 'W' when the teams last played back in April of 2025 against Marion by a conclusive 14-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
