Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a  season-high score is even better (just ask Maplesville). They put the hurt on Verbena with a sharp  16-1 victory on Wednesday. The  win was a breath of fresh air for Maplesville as it put an end to their seven-game losing streak.
 Jt Johnson looked comfortable as he  pitched three innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   five  hits. What's more,  he gave up only one  walk, the fewest he's  had  over his last five  games.
 On the hitting side,  Cade Smith was  incredible,  going 3-for-4 with five  RBI, two  runs,  and one  double. The dominant performance gave  him a new career-high in  RBI.  Brody Barnett also deserves some recognition as  he  hit his first  triple of the season.
Maplesville's victory bumped their record up to 2-12. As for Verbena, they have  been struggling recently as they've  lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record  this season.
 Both  teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Maplesville will face off against West Blocton at 1:30  p.m.  on Monday. As for Verbena, they will take on Notasulga at 3:30  p.m.  on Monday.
