Baseball Recap: Casady Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Casady lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Little Axe, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's contest. The Cyclones blew past the Indians 13-2 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Cyclones, who have now won five matches by nine runs or more so far this season.

Canon West and Kyler Tice made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, West pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Meanwhile, Tice pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (two). At bat, West scored a run and stole a base, while Tice scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Casady is 3-1 when Tice posts two or more runs, but 3-5 otherwise.

In other batting news, Davis Currie and Micah White did most of the damage at the plate: Currie scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while White scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1. White is becoming a predictor of Casady's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-6 when he doesn't).

Casady always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Casady's victory ended an eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 6-6. As for Little Axe, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.

Casady has already played their next contest, an 11-3 win against Stratford on the 12th. As for Little Axe, they will welcome Star-Spencer at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Indians are facing the Bobcats at the right time seeing as the Bobcats are stuck on a 13-game losing streak.
