The Eastmark Firebirds will be playing in front of their home fans against the Buckeye Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Eastmark entered their tilt with Apache Junction with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Eastmark blew past Apache Junction 50-7 at home.
Collin Minnaar and Mason Jensen were among the main playmakers for Eastmark as the former picked up 107 receiving yards and four touchdowns and the latter threw for 229 yards and six touchdowns.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Apache Junction to a paltry 217 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Eastmark's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out ten times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by Carson Minnaar and Ramar Williams who racked up six sacks between them.
Meanwhile, Buckeye took their match on the road on Friday with ease, bagging a 49-14 win over Lake Havasu. The win made it back-to-back wins for Buckeye.
Zachary Bennett went supernova for Buckeye, throwing for 307 yards and five touchdowns while completing 76.2% of his passes, and also punching in a rushing score. The team also got some help courtesy of Darius Haskin, who picked up 107 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Eastmark to 8-2 and Buckeye to 7-3.
Keep an eye on the end zone in Thursday's game as both teams haven't had much trouble getting there this season. Eastmark commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 5.2 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like Buckeye struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.2 per game.
