The Palmyra Cougars will square off against the Red Land Patriots at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Palmyra is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
Palmyra lost 12-2 to Middletown on Thursday.
Palmyra saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anna Crawford, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Sophie Cunningham was another, going 1-for-2 with one run and one double.
Red Land came out on top against Lower Dauphin on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run second inning. The Patriots blew past the Falcons 14-8. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.
Addie Wagenheim made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and three unearned) runs off 12 hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one double.
In other batting news, Logan Shettel was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Melody Saylor, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Red Land kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive matchups.
Red Land has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.4 runs over those games. As for Palmyra, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6-1.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Palmyra hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .324. However, it's not like Red Land struggles in that department as they've averaged .409. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Palmyra might still be hurting after the 13-2 loss they got from Red Land when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
