Maconaquah is 0-7 against Kokomo since May of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. The Braves will venture away from home to square off against the Wildkats at 5:00 p.m. Maconaquah is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Maconaquah came into this matchup off a tough 11-run defeat on Saturday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Tri-Central by a score of 8-6 on Monday. The Braves just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.
Blayklee Buman put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and four unearned) runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). Furthermore, she didn't allow a single walk, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Shaela Brazzel made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Haylee Scarlett, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Kokomo didn't have quite enough to beat Peru on Friday and fell 13-11. The Wildkats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Spencer Martin and Kinley Martin did some serious damage despite the final result: Spencer scored two runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-5, while Kinley scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Spencer also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Lanaya Buckner was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.
Maconaquah's record is now 1-3. As for Kokomo, their record now sits at 2-2.
Kokomo's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Maconaquah has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .470.
