Cleburne County has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Jacksonville Golden Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Jacksonville took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Cleburne County, who comes in off a win.
Last Tuesday, in a tight contest that could have gone either way, Cleburne County made off with a 50-49 victory over the Tigers. The win was just what Cleburne County needed coming off of a 61-36 loss in their prior game.
Meanwhile, Jacksonville unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of Alexandria by a score of 74-71. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Jacksonville has suffered since December 21, 2023.
Despite their loss, Jacksonville saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. KyDric Fisher, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. It was the first time this season that Fisher scored 15 or more points. Jaquan Ervin was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with two steals.
Cleburne County is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-10 record this season. As for Jacksonville, their defeat dropped their record down to 23-7.
Cleburne County suffered a grim 70-44 defeat to the Golden Eagles in their previous meeting back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Jacksonville's Aaron Nixon, who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points and 1 assist.
