Volleyball Recap: Knox Has No Trouble Against Westville

Knox's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They blew past the Westville Blackhawks 3-0. That looming 3-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Redskins yet this season.

Knox not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Westville between 15 and 17 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-15, 25-17.

Knox can attribute much of their success to Addison Sponaugle, who had 13 digs and one assist. Sponaugle has been hot, having posted 11 or more digs the last six times she's played. Mady Hinshaw also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Westville's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Myleigh Weaver, who had 13 assists and six digs, and Lydia Green, who had seven digs and one assist.

The win got Knox back to even at 4-4. As for Westville, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.

After both having extra time off, Knox and Culver Academies will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Westville, they will challenge River Forest at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. The Blackhawks are facing the Ingots at the right time seeing as the Ingots are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
