On Saturday, the Kanab Cowboys faced the Beaver Beavers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Kanab took a 48-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Beaver. It was the first time this season that Kanab let down their fans at home.
Kanab's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Taylor Janes, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Rylee Little, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Kanab's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-2. As for Beaver, their win was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kanab will challenge Enterprise at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Enterprise will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Utah Rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while Kanab is ranked 12th). As for Beaver, they will head out on the road to face off against Parowan at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Parowan has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 9.
