Basketball Game Preview: Locust Fork Hornets vs. Jasper Vikings

The Locust Fork Hornets will square off against the Jasper Vikings at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Locust Fork's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Locust Fork is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Hanceville 88-43 on Tuesday. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Hornets had established a 41 point advantage.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Locust Fork to victory, but perhaps none more so than Levi White, who went 9 for 13 on his way to 27 points and six rebounds. White's evening made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Nicholas Horn was another key player, going 6 of 8 from beyond the arc en route to 22 points and three steals.

Locust Fork smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Jasper had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33.6 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Blue Devils 83-51. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 50th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 176th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jasper has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.2 points per game. As for Locust Fork, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-1.
