The Messmer Bishops pushed their score all the way to 62 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were dealt a 106-62 defeat at the hands of Heritage Christian. Messmer has struggled against the Patriots recently, as their contest on Saturday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Mike Bowen Jr. was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds for Heritage Christian. Bowen Jr. has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 13 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Alex Trotter, who scored 26 points.
Messmer has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season. As for Heritage Christian, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Messmer's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Hilltoppers at 7:15 p.m. on February 5th. Catholic Central has now lost 18 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 1. As for Heritage Christian, they will head out on the road to square off against the Challengers at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
