Chicago Christian has gone a perfect 4-0 against Aurora Christian recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Knights will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 4:30 p.m.
Chicago Christian is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 18 runs on Thursday, they were much more limited against Marian Central Catholic on Monday. They fell 4-1 to the Hurricanes.
Chicago Christian saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abby Rashan, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three match, Aurora Christian brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 17-16 victory over Chicago Hope Academy on Monday. The win was some much needed relief for the Eagles as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Vaila Johnson made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and 11 unearned) runs off ten hits. Johnson was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with four runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Maddie Wagner was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Madi Kossakowski, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Aurora Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .447. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chicago Hope Academy only posted a batting average of .167.
Aurora Christian's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-10 and their overall record up to 6-14. As for Chicago Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-18.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Chicago Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. However, it's not like Aurora Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .354. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Chicago Christian's way against Aurora Christian when the teams last played back in May of 2023, as Chicago Christian made off with a 16-4 win. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
