The result came thanks to Brayden Bay's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up 11 Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Poudre is 4-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-4 otherwise.
At the plate, Brady Santillanes was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing three bases. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024. Benny Quast was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Thompson Valley's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell just short of Severance by a score of 12-11. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Monday (ten), the Eagles still had to take the loss.
Beau Heaton put in work while hitting and pitching. He pitched five innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Heaton was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
In other batting news, Evan Raabe made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-5. He has been hot recently, having also posted three or more RBI the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Amari Richardson, who scored three runs while going 2-for-5.
Poudre's victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Thompson Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Poudre has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Thompson Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
