Volleyball Recap: Tri County Northeast Find Success

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Tri County Northeast and Hartington-Newcastle meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Wolfpack came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 2-0. The Wolfpack haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

While Tri County Northeast won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-23.

Their offense was headlined by Joslyn Mackling and Kiya Tornez, who picked up ten kills apiece. They got some help from Ally Belt and her 18 assists. Mackling was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Tri County Northeast's win bumped their record up to 18-4. As for Hartington-Newcastle, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 14 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-21 record this season.

Tri County Northeast has already played their next match, a 2-1 victory against Winside on the 14th. As for Hartington-Newcastle, they will head out on the road to face off against Laurel-Concord-Coleridge at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
